Scattered thunderstorms moving north infiltrated the Las Vegas Valley Tuesday afternoon and could leave as much as a half-inch of rain in some parts of the area, the National Weather Service said.

The brunt of the storms will pass through the valley between 6 and 8 p.m. and temperatures will drop 10 to 20 degrees, with highs in the 80s, meteorologist Stan Czyzyk said.

“The later storms will be stronger than what we’ve seen so far today, for sure,” he said.

The weather service issued a wind advisory for gusts up to 60 miles per hour, through 6:15 p.m, for “strong” storms moving across the east side of the valley.

Most storms are expected to leave the area by 8 p.m., and nighttime highs will return to 90 degrees, Czyzyk said.

Temperatures will heat back up Wednesday, with an expected high of 107 degrees, Czyzyk said.
