The identify of one of the three men involved in shooting at a North Las Vegas police officer during a Wednesday incident was released today by the department.

Mark Norsingle, 28, was taken into custody Wednesday and booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on one count of attempted murder of a police officer and felony evading, according to North Las Vegas Police.

The incident began about 9 a.m. in the 4800 block of Partegus Street — near North Decatur Boulevard and West Lone Mountain — with reports of a disturbance at a home, police said. A caller reported three men broke into a home, hit a woman and stole various items, police said.

The woman sustained non-life threatening injuries, police said. Preliminary investigation indicates the suspects knew the victim.

The officer went to the home and saw the suspects fleeing the area in a sports utility vehicle, police said. When he tried to stop the vehicle, the suspects began shooting at him.

The officer, a 15-year veteran, did not sustain any injuries and did not fire his weapon at the suspects, police said.

The suspects stopped near the intersection of Craig Road and Decatur Boulevard. Two of them stole a gray GMC Sierra truck pulling a black landscaping trailer. It has Nevada plates #214YWW. The suspects, both men, were only described as one being black and one white.

A short time later, Norsingle was taken into custody near Craig and Decatur.

This is an ongoing investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call the North Las Vegas Police Department at 702-633-9111. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
