Two public meetings will be held Wednesday for people to weigh in on the master plan for downtown Las Vegas.

People can preview the most recent version of the plan — dubbed the Preferred Alternative — and discuss it from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St.

The downtown master plan has been nearly 18 months in the making. It’s part of a citywide master planning effort called City By Design that will culminate in a strategic vision for Las Vegas.

These will be the final outreach meetings before the downtown master plan heads to the city’s Planning Commission, which will discuss it April 12. The Las Vegas City Council will then consider and vote on the plan May 18.

City leaders and consultants from RTKL, a global architecture and design firm, will present the plan at the Wednesday meetings. The plan’s goal is to provide a framework for the physical, social and economic development of the city’s downtown corridor over the next two decades.

Those unable to attend the Wednesday meetings can offer input through March 23 online at visionlv.com.
