Brothel owner Dennis Hof will file as a Libertarian for the Nevada Assembly seat held by Republican Assemblyman James Oscarson, the state Libertarian party announced today.

Oscarson has already filed for re-election, along with two other Republicans, Rusty Stanberry and Tina Trenner.

Hof owns seven brothels in Nevada, including his most famous, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch outside of Carson City, which was featured in the HBO series “Cathouse.”

This is the third elected office Hof has expressed interest in pursuing in the last year.

Hof had contemplated a bid for U.S. Sen. Minority Leader Harry Reid’s seat over the summer. Then in January, he announced he was planning to run for the seat left vacant by Republican state Sen. Greg Brower.

The state Libertarian party said Hof received the party’s nomination for the Assembly seat at its state convention in Mound House on Saturday.

He is expected to file for office at the Secretary of State’s Office in Carson City at 1 p.m. Friday.
