First-time unemployment claims down in February

CARSON CITY — The number of Nevadans filing first-time claims for unemployment benefits fell nearly 17 percent in February from the previous month, according to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation.

Department Economist Bill Anderson said initial claims are likely to remain stable before seeing some seasonable increases in the summer months. The initial claim relates to people who have recently lost their jobs.
