Updated Sunday, March 27, 2016 | 7:27 p.m.

An elderly man was ejected from a vehicle Sunday afternoon after his truck was struck by another vehicle near Red Rock Casino, according to Metro Police.

Officers responded about 2:14 p.m. to the area of Charleston Boulevard and Sky Vista Drive, near Nevada State Route 159.

According to a Metro news release, a 2004 Toyota Tundra was exiting a private driveway on the north side of Charleston as a 1997 Chevy Suburban was traveling westbound on Charleston, west of Sky Vista. The Chevy struck the left front side of the Toyota, causing major damage to both vehicles.

Stanley Betts, the 81-year-old driver of the Toyota, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. Five occupants of the Chevy, including two children, received minor injuries. All were taken to University Medical Center.

The crash, which closed eastbound lanes of Charleston for part of the afternoon, remains under investigation.
