California man, 19, dies after being hit by car in Sloan

Metro Police say a 19-year-old man from Tustin, California has died after being hit by a car in spite of his passenger's attempt to personally drive him to the hospital.

Authorities say the crash happened at about 11 p.m. Sunday in Sloan, south of Las Vegas.

Police say the 19-year-old driver was hit by a Buick Rendezvous after he got out of his Mazda, which was stopped on Sloan Road. Officials say the man's passenger tried to take him to a hospital but eventually stopped at a parking lot on Las Vegas Boulevard and called for help.

Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene. His name hasn't yet been released.

Police say the 50-year-old woman driving the Buick stopped near the crash site and reported the incident.
