Coroner IDs man killed by resident during reported home invasion

An armed man Metro Police say was shot dead as he forced his way into a central valley apartment Saturday has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Lacy Howard, 44, of Las Vegas.

Howard died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Coroner’s Office.

Two people were inside an apartment in the 3700 block of Swenson Street, near Twain Avenue, about 3 a.m. Saturday when the shooting occurred, police said.

Howard, who was armed, forced his way into the apartment and was shot by one of the residents, police said. Howard fired at least one round, striking the other resident, who did not have a gun, police said.

Howard died at the scene. The wounded resident, who was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, was expected to survive, police said.
