Police: Climber dies at Red Rock Canyon after reported medical episode

A rock climber died this morning at Red Rock Canyon after a search and rescue team responded to a report that the person was experiencing a possible medical episode, according to Metro Police.

Police and medical personnel located the person, who was pronounced dead at the scene and was being recovered, officials said. The call came in at 9:20 a.m.

No additional details were immediately available.

The incident comes after a Metro rescue team hoisted three stranded hikers to safety from Mount Charleston Wednesday night.

About 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said, they received a call that three hikers got lost while making their way down the Mount Charleston near Robber’s Roost.

They were rescued by helicopter and treated for hypothermia before being released, according to police.
