letters to the editor:

Trump would bring compromise back to Washington

If the unthinkable should become reality and either Donald Trump or Ted Cruz gets the GOP nomination and goes on to win the presidency, who would be the better choice for the country?

It actually is an easy choice. For two terms President Barack Obama has faced an opposition party that refuses to compromise or negotiate with him on pretty much any issue. Cruz has refused to do either not only with Obama, but with his own party. On the floor of the Senate he called Mitch McConnell a “liar.” He sits by himself at weekly GOP breakfasts. He is a “lone wolf.” He is clearly the most disliked senator on the Republican side of the aisle.

One strong suit Donald Trump has is his understanding of the value of negotiation and compromise. He will work both sides of the aisle because he prides himself on the “art of the deal.” If the unthinkable should happen, I would much rather take my chances with a man who will work hard to bring compromise back to Washington, D.C.
