Ex-Mississippi inmate to plead not guilty in Las Vegas slayings

A 32-year-old former Mississippi jail inmate is expected to plead not guilty in Las Vegas to murder charges that could get him the death penalty in a 2013 double slaying.

Christopher Charles Green is due for arraignment Monday in Nevada state court in the killing of Teray Shaney Lyles and Michael Dunbar the courtyard of a Las Vegas apartment complex.

Prosecutors will decide in coming weeks whether to seek capital punishment.

Police say several witnesses identified Green as the gunman, and a partial fingerprint linked him to a 9mm rifle found near where Lyles and Dunbar were killed.

Green was returned in March to Las Vegas from Mississippi's Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility, where he'd been jailed since 2014 on an aggravated assault conviction.
