Frozen vegetables recalled by Smith’s

Check your freezers, Southern Nevada residents.

An assortment of frozen vegetables sold at Smith's Food and Drug Stores have been recalled because the food may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. The bacterium can cause a serious infection, especially among older adults, pregnant women, newborns and people with weakened immune systems, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Kroger, the Ohio-based parent company of Smith's, announced the multi-state recall Monday. The products, which have been pulled from store shelves, may be returned for a full refund, officials said.
