Sandoval getting crash course in pro video gaming

Gov. Brian Sandoval and other members of a Nevada gambling policy committee are getting a crash course on professional video gaming.

The Gaming Policy Committee is meeting today in Las Vegas to discuss economic development opportunities for Nevada in esports. The activity involves teams of professional gamers playing against each other in tournaments held in arenas.

The matchups are often broadcast live online and accompanied with play-by-play commentary.

The panel will hear about a day in the life of professional esports player Johnathan "Fatal1ty" Wendel. They'll also hear from Jake "Ginko" Fyfe, who manages the professional esports team Echo Fox.

Sandoval launched the group to explore ways to keep Nevada's gambling industry competitive. Beyond esports, the committee has discussed how to work with online gambling and daily fantasy sports industries.
