A man who was a person of interest in the stabbing death of his girlfriend, whose body was found by Metro Police Friday morning, has been arrested, police said.

Michael Arthur Garcia, 54, was arrested by investigators of a multijurisdiction task force Thursday in the area of Tropicana Avenue and Maryland Parkway, police said. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

Investigators said Linda R. Wise, 53, of Las Vegas, had been dead several days by the time she was located. She died from a stab wound to the neck, the Clark County coroner’s office said.

Officers responded about 2:30 p.m. to a residence in the 5500 block of Hobble Creek Drive, near East Russell Road and South Nellis Boulevard, police said.

Court records show that Michael Arthur Garcia has a criminal history in Las Vegas that dates back to 2013.

In 2003, Garcia faced a domestic violence battery charge that was dismissed, records show. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly conduct and possession of drugs from a 2008 incident.

In 2010, he pleaded guilty to charges of misdemeanor assault and domestic violence battery. In 2012, Garcia pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon. In February, he faced a felony charge of possession or transferring of a stolen vehicle, records show. That charge was later dismissed.
