A 71-year-old man who died in a crash after losing control of his motorcycle and hitting a construction barrier in Henderson has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
Nicholas Thomas of Henderson died of blunt-force trauma Friday evening, the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.
The crash happened about 3:45 p.m. on East Russell Road near North Stephanie Street, Henderson Police spokesman Michelle French said.
Thomas lost control of his 2001 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he failed to “negotiate a curb,” and hit a median, French said. He struck a construction barrier and flipped over it, falling about 18 feet to the ground.
He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, French said. He died about four hours later.
Speed and alcohol are considered to be a factor in the crash, she said.
The roadway was closed for about three hours as police investigated the collision.
