Baylor says it’s still reviewing report on sex assaults

AUSTIN, Texas — Baylor University officials say regents are still reviewing an investigation into how the Texas school handled reports of rape and assault by football players and expect to announce any actions by June 3.

Baylor issued the statement Tuesday after reports that President Ken Starr was fired. The school said it would not respond to "rumors."

Starr and football coach Art Briles have faced sharp criticism on whether Baylor ignored allegations of assaults by players, at least two of whom were later convicted of sexual assault.

Baylor regents recently received an investigation by Philadelphia law firm Pepper Hamilton but details have not been made public.

Starr has been Baylor president since 2010. He was the special prosecutor who investigated former President Bill Clinton's sexual relationship with White House intern Monica Lewisnky.
