Medicaid provider to pay $22,000 restitution in fraud case

Las Vegas Medicaid provider Advanced Behavioral Care has been sentenced for fraud, according to Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt.

According to a news release, the company was sentenced on a gross misdemeanor charge of intentional failure to maintain adequate Medicaid records from April to July 2014.

As a result, ABC will be placed on a three-year probation and has been ordered to pay $22,000 in restitution, officials said.

The charge was the result of an investigation that revealed the company had submitted claims for undocumented services and received payment for those claims, officials said.

According to the news release, ABC had previously been placed on notice regarding the need to maintain accurate and proper documentation of claims.

“Medicaid provider businesses need to be held accountable for taking advantage of the Medicaid system,” Laxalt said in the news release. “Prosecution of these crimes helps deter fraud and keep these fraudulent businesses from operating in Nevada.”
