Police seeking driver in hit-and-run that left pedestrian in critical condition

A jaywalker was critically injured Saturday evening when a truck crashed into him and then drove away near East Tropicana Avenue and South Topaz Street.

According to Metro Police, about 9:30 p.m., 37-year-old Christopher Rivera was crossing East Tropicana Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk when a westbound yellow Ford truck struck him.

The driver and passenger of the Ford, who were both described as men in their 20s, fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

Rivera was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Police are seeking the driver of the Ford, which is likely to have damage on its left front.

The crash remains under investigation.
