Updated Tuesday, May 31, 2016 | 5:04 p.m.

A man has died after he was shot in the head following an argument at a Las Vegas apartment complex Monday night, authorities said.

Metro Police Officer Laura Meltzer said Tuesday that officers responding to a report of gunfire found the man mortally wounded a little before 7 p.m. Monday at the complex off Cambridge Street. That's near The Boulevard mall, east of the Las Vegas Strip.

An assailant hasn't been arrested or identified.

Meltzer says the wounded man was taken to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center. The Clark County Coroner's Office said Tuesday that the man died.

Witnesses told police the man had been arguing with someone shortly before he was shot. A group of people were seen fleeing from the complex after the gunshot, police said.
