Solar roofs are key to reducing carbon waste

Nearly all understand that we need to heal the Earth to survive. Carbon pricing is one key.

Consider this: Homeowners (and others) have garbage service, for which they gladly pay. However, when NV Energy generates our electricity via coal and natural gas, carbon “garbage” is spewed into our atmosphere with no fee attached to it. The annual G20 economic international summit was held this month in China to help the world establish fair prices to help try to rid our atmosphere of this carbon garbage. Once established, NV Energy will pass this cost along, so all users will end up paying their fair share for this cleanup.

Solar roofs produce energy carbon-free. Thus, the more solar roofs we have, the less NV Energy has to pay because they will generate less carbon waste. Of course, those with solar roofs should be compensated by NV Energy for the carbon waste they save others. Bottom line: Our governor, the Legislature, the Public Utilities Commission, NV Energy and all caring residents should get behind the effort to maximize the use of solar in Nevada.

A more extensive discussion of carbon pricing can be found in the GAS2 article “Musk Expresses Pessimism on Climate Change” by Steve Hanley.
