A California registered sex offender who has been arrested more than 35 times and was wanted in his state for a parole violation was arrested in Henderson on Tuesday, according to Metro Police.

Martin G. Suarez, 30, was arrested about 1 p.m. by a task force that comprises the U.S. Marshals and local law enforcement, near Sunset and Gibson roads, where he had been living, Metro said.

Suarez was wanted out of California, where from age 14 he has been arrested more than 35 times on a variety of offenses, police said. His most recent arrest came after he was caught in possession of a firearm he wasn't legally allowed to own. Information on his city of residence wasn't released.

More charges may be forthcoming because investigators allege he stole a vehicle to evade authorities, police said.

Local authorities will extradite Suarez to California, police said.

Anyone who is aware of the whereabouts of a wanted fugitive locally is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or crimestoppersofnv.com.
