Henderson man, 28, gets 14 years in receipt of child pornography case

A 28-year-old Henderson man was sentenced today to 14 years in prison for receiving child pornography after authorities discovered hundreds of pictures and videos on his computers, according to the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada.

After a three-day trial that ended Thursday, a jury found Andrew John Gibson guilty of one count of receipt of child pornography, officials said.

For about five months in 2013, Gibson used a file-sharing network to access illegal material, and during an interview with law enforcement, he admitted downloading child pornography, officials said.

After forensic examinations of Gibson’s computers, law enforcement deemed 307 images and 201 videos were child pornography, officials said.

The case was investigated by Metro Police and federal authorities.

The effort was part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative founded in 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice to combat “the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse,” officials said.
