A man arrested today faces extortion and intimidation counts in connection with a threatening letter found last month outside of U.S. Sen. Dean Heller’s office in Las Vegas, according to Metro Police.

Richard Holley, 62, was arrested without incident and taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he faces counts of burglary, extortion and intimidating a public officer, police said.

Authorities did not provide any additional details about the arrest.

Police received a call about 9 a.m. July 16 from an alarm company reporting a burglary alarm at the main entrance of Heller’s office at 8930 W. Sunset Road, near Durango Drive. Officers found a threatening note addressed to Heller near the door, police said.

Neither Heller’s Office nor Metro would comment on the contents of the letter.

The letter was found days before Heller was set to cast a key vote on a proposal to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
