Fists raised, glowsticks waved and heads bobbed as Kaskade kicked off Las Vegas’ New Year’s Eve festivities in style Friday night at Omnia, as part of a residency of at least seven shows to take place at the venue in the new year.

Standing in a black long-sleeve T-shirt, rolled up blue jeans and bright red Nike shoes, Kaskade spun through a series of his own hits, including “Eyes” and “I Remember” in addition to recent club favorites “Take My Breath Away” and “Fire.”

Standing on a ledge in front of the screaming crowd, Kaskade later invited Omnia-goers to “get up.”

“I love you guys,” he shouted to sold-out crowd at the venue.

Before the show, the Chicago native arrived to the venue via helicopter, which touched down in front of Caesars Palace at midnight on Saturday morning. Kaskade, whose real name is Ryan Raddon, took questions from media members covering topics from his upcoming residency to family life and staying relevant in the competitive house music scene.

“It’s really about writing good songs and playing music that people are interested in,” he told the Sun after stepping off the helicopter and posing with a silver-plated plaque to commemorate the residency. “Seeing the way people react in different places around the world and being able to share that experience together with them is what keeps me going.”

Kaskade, who also performs annually at Las Vegas’ Electric Daisy Carnival, next plays at Omnia on Jan. 27. He’s also scheduled at the venue for Feb. 17 and March 25.
