An unarmed security guard was shot in the shoulder Monday night while patrolling a neighborhood in the northwest valley, according to Metro Police.
The 60-year-old man was walking through the neighborhood in the 1100 block of North Buffalo Drive, near Washington Avenue, about 11 p.m. when he saw a 20- to 25-year-old man leaning against a wall, according to police.
When the security guard asked the man if he lived in the neighborhood, the man pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at the security guard, police said.
One shot hit the guard in the shoulder. He was taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries and was in stable condition, police said.
The shooter fled the area and has not been captured, police said.
