Rebel football picks up 3-star prospect from Georgia

The UNLV football program has picked up a verbal commitment in each of the past two days from a three-star recruit.

Drew Tejchman, a 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back from Kennesaw, Georgia, verbally committed today on social media. He’s arguably the best prospect in the Rebels 2017 signing class, and more important, may fill an area of need in the secondary.

Tejchman was all-state honorable mention at defensive back in 2016 for North Cobb High, which advanced to the 7A state quarterfinals. He also played wide receiver and returned kicks, including a 99-yard kickoff for a touchdown in the state playoffs.

Tejchman had double-digit scholarship offers, from the likes of East Carolina, Troy and Tulane, according to Rivals.com. Tejchman’s profile on Hudl says he runs a 4.5 second 40-yard dash.

Thursday, offensive line Daniel Schoene from Bakersfield High in California committed. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Schoene was originally committed to San Jose State, but decommitted after its coaching staff changed. He’s a candidate to redshirt because of the depth on the UNLV line.

National signing day is Feb. 1.
