Fiery fatal crash closes U.S. 93 both ways near Moapa

U.S. 93 was closed in both directions this afternoon after a fatal crash near Moapa, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened about noon near State Route 168 and involved a semi-truck and a Dodge Ram pickup, the patrol said. Both vehicles caught fire, and the driver of the pickup was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol said.

The driver of the semi-truck was flown to University Medical Center, the patrol said.

The highway was expected to remain closed in both directions for several hours for investigation and cleanup, the patrol said. Drivers are advised to use State Route 168 as an alternative.
