Letters to the Editor:

Voter panel an overreach

While our president was campaigning, he and other Republicans insisted there was too much government in our lives.

Now, the president has created a new panel to investigate voter fraud. The president wants this committee to find out if people are registered to vote, when they voted, who they voted for (party affiliation), their birthdates, their Social Security numbers and who knows what else. This certainly is a turnaround from his campaign promises of less government.

I, and I am sure many others, do not want this information handed out in this day and age of hacking and stolen identities. According to many state surveys, there is virtually no voter fraud going on. Voting is private, our personal information is private. I commend our secretary of state for refusing to comply with this request from Washington. I hope she sticks to her good judgment and protects the voters in Nevada.
