A man shot and killed a woman this morning at a northwest valley apartment, reported it to authorities and then turned the weapon on himself, according to Metro Police.
The man shot the woman shortly before calling 911 about 3:15 a.m., Lt. Dan McGrath said. He told dispatchers his name and address and that the door was unlocked, he said.
He then shot himself, McGrath said. A neighbor heard two gunshots timed immediately before and after the 911 call, he said.
Officers found the bodies of a man and a woman at the apartment in the 4600 block of Rainbow Boulevard, north of Craig Road, McGrath said.
The couple, in their 50s, have the same last name, but police are investigating their relationship, McGrath said.
