Junior dos Santos defeats Frank Mir in UFC 146

Steve Marcus

Stipe Miocic of Independence, Ohio celebrates after defeating Shane Del Rosario of Ivine, Calif. during UFC 146 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena Saturday, May 26, 2012.

Two and a half years later, bettors who took the underdog in the main event of UFC on Fox 13 are still complaining.

Stipe Miocic came in as high as a plus-300 (risking $100 to win $300) underdog against Junior dos Santos, who was a minus-400 (risking $400 to win $100), and many felt he pulled off the upset. The judges weren’t among that group.

Dos Santos officially edged Miocic by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47). Miocic, now heavyweight champion, has the shot to avenge his last loss tonight in the main event of UFC 211 in Dallas — the card starts at 2 p.m. local time with the pay-per-view slated for 7 p.m. — against dos Santos.

The same chance to get even isn’t extended toward his backers in sports books. The odds aren’t quite as attractive this time around.

Miocic will enter the rematch as the favorite, currently sitting at odds of minus-130 with dos Santos coming back at plus-110.
