A 53-year-old man shot and killed his juvenile son Thursday morning during a domestic disturbance near Horizon Ridge Parkway and Seven Hills Drive, according to Henderson police.
Wendell Melton was jailed at the Henderson Detention Center on various counts, including murder, police said.
Police responded to the shooting about noon in the 900 block of Seven Hills, and the minor was taken in critical condition to St. Rose Dominican Hospital - Siena Campus, where he later died, police spokesman Officer Rod Peña said.
Information on the child’s age was not released.
The shooting followed a domestic dispute between Melton and his son, but further details were not immediately available, Peña said.
