Police: Henderson officer fires shot after car rams patrol vehicle

An officer fired a shot after a man rammed a patrol vehicle following a brief car chase this morning, but nobody was injured, according to Henderson Police.

A patrol officer pulled over Robert Clark, 40, and a passenger, Courtney Ellis, 33, both suspects wanted in connection with multiple burglaries and “fraudulent-related activities,” about 5 a.m. today near Atlantic and Pacific avenues, police said.

Clark, who was driving a red 1995 Cadillac DeVille, fled the scene after initially stopping, prompting a short chase, police said.

Clark subsequently rammed a patrol vehicle in the 200 block of Bismark Way, and an officer fired one round from his duty weapon, missing Clark, police said.

Clark and Ellis were taken into custody without further incident, police said.

They were being held at the Henderson Detention Center on various burglary, conspiracy and fraud-related counts, police said. Clark also faces a count of battery with a deadly weapon (vehicle) and felony evading, police said.

The Henderson Police Department is investigating the shooting, the city’s first officer-involved shooting of the year, officials said.
