A Democrat in the race to replace Rep. Jacky Rosen has picked up the endorsement of a gun safety group founded by former Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was wounded in an Arizona shooting.

Giffords, a nonprofit group, announced Thursday that it was endorsing 3rd Congressional District candidate Susie Lee and three other female candidates who would advocate for gun safety laws, such as universal background checks.

“Building a safer future for our families and our communities requires electing leaders with the courage to solve the gun violence epidemic that is damaging our country,” Giffords said in a statement.

Lee faces Jack Love and Steve Schiffman in the primary. The Republican primary will include former Assemblywoman Victoria Seaman, state Sen. Scott Hammond, and former reporter Michelle Mortensen.
