Letters to the Editor:

Give the gift of a hug

My heart goes out to the city of Las Vegas. There is nothing I can say to ease your pain from the horrific killings of so many people, to those injured or to all the people who witnessed the carnage.

I need someone to go to Sheriff Joe Lombardo and give him a long hug. Please don’t let go. I can see on his face and in his voice that he is a very strong man. I am not there. I can’t do it myself.

Then please walk up to a law enforcement officer, an EMT, a first responder, an ambulance driver, a nurse, a doctor, an anesthesiologist, the person who cleaned up the blood in the hospital or on the street, and the heroes on the street, give them a hug and say thank you.

When you see a neighbor or someone on the street who is still in shock, offer them a hug. Remember, you need that hug too.

My thoughts, prayers and tears go out to you. I wish I could be there to hug every one of you.

Hug a chaplain, a priest, a minister, a counselor, a 911 operator. I could go on and on with all of the hospital staff. Hug them for you, then please hug them for me.

To everyone who was at the concert, the reporters and camera crews, you also need a huge hug. Give one, get one, pass it on.

When you are able, hug an injured person, their family, a friend.
