Health exchange open enrollment starts Nov. 1

CARSON CITY β€” Open enrollment for the Nevada State Health Insurance Exchange begins Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15.

There will be a kickoff event from noon to 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the St. Rose Dominican Hospital β€” San Martin Campus in Las Vegas to help people learn about coverage and subsidies available. There also will be an opening-day event at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

The number of companies offering policies through the exchange has dropped from four to two next year β€” Health Plan of Nevada and SilverSummit.

There are about 89,000 enrollees in the program, and exchange Director Heather Korbulic is urging people to examine the options available. Licensed enrollment professionals will be at both sites to help people decide which plan is best for them.
