Ray Brewer and Case Keefer recap all the action from rivalry week, and spend extra time looking ahead to a few of the evenly-matched games in week 9.

Jayvion Pugh ran for 100 yards and three touchdowns to lead Canyon Springs to its third straight win Friday night.

The Pioneers improved to 3-0 in the Northwest League with a dominant 49-0 win over Eldorado.

“We are starting to fall into sync a little bit,” coach Gus McNair said. “I think the real test comes (in the playoffs) and that will tell us where we are.”

Canyon Springs’ defense notched the shutout and has allowed only 20 points in the last three games combined.

“They’re flying around and playing aggressive,” McNair said. “They’re doing what we are asking them to do and they’re forcing a lot of turnovers.”

Quarterback-running back hybrid DiaMante Burton also added 150 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Pioneers, who close out the regular season against Rancho on Thursday.
