Vegas Golden Knights’ Griffin Reinhart, Shea Theodore, Stefan Matteau, Tyler Wong, back right, and Tomas Nosek, of the Czech Republic, celebrate Wong’s third goal against the Vancouver Canucks during the third period of a preseason NHL hockey game in Vancouver, British Columbia, Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017.

The Golden Knights may be years away from competing for a Stanley Cup, but they are already a box office king of the NHL.

Though they have not yet played their first regular-season game, Vegas is blowing away teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers in secondary market ticket sales, according to a report from StubHub.

The Rangers and Blackhawks have been No. 1 and 2 in ticket resales for the last three years, but the Golden Knights are outselling them on StubHub by 96 percent and 135 percent, respectively.

The Golden Knights are in seven of the top 10 most in-demand games in the NHL, including three of the top four.

That’s partially because of the hype surrounding the NHL’s newest franchise, but it likely has more to do with the destination city it plays in.

The best-selling Golden Knights games are against the Penguins on Dec. 14, the Blackhawks on Oct. 24, the Coyotes on Oct. 10, the Red Wings on Oct. 13 and Maple Leafs on Dec. 21.

It’s no surprise that after Nevada, which accounts for 20 percent of the Golden Knights tickets sold on StubHub, the states with the next-most purchases are California, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York — homes of the Kings, Blackhawks, Penguins and Rangers.

The average price of tickets sold to the Golden Knights home opener on Oct. 10 is $227, second in the league only to the Red Wings season opener against the Wild on Oct. 5 ($265).

The Golden Knights are the only team in the NHL to have sold tickets in all 50 states on StubHub. They’ve also sold tickets in 18 countries, the most of any team expect the Kings and Rangers.
