It’s debatable whether draining a swamp would actually protect the environment or damage it, but there’s little doubt that Scott Pruitt, the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, is both filling the swamp and damaging the environment.
It’s been reported that Pruitt has spent taxpayer money lavishly on first-class travel arrangements, pay raises for cronies he’s appointed to political jobs, and unnecessary use of security personnel. He’s also being investigated for needlessly spending $43,000 on a privacy booth for his office, an act by which the Government Accountability Office says he violated federal law (by not informing Congress). In addition, there’s the suspicious $50-a-night condo deal from which he benefited.
Pruitt has demonstrated that, like so many of President Donald Trump’s other ethics-challenged officials, he needs to go.
