Fire does extensive damage to northwest valley house

An overnight house fire did extensive damage to a house in the northwest valley, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

Nobody was injured.

Dispatchers received several calls about 3:20 a.m. today of a fire near Rainbow Boulevard and Cheyenne Avenue but did not get an exact address.

Firefighters drove around the area until they found the blaze in the 6500 block of Brooks Avenue, in unincorporated Clark County, officials said.

Flames were shooting through the room and 30 to 40 feet into the air, officials said. Burning embers were also being picked up by the wind and spread around the neighborhood, officials said.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to bring the blaze under control, officials said.

The Clark County Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire. A damage estimate was not immediately available.
