Man stabbed in neck after argument at south valley park

An altercation at a south valley park Wednesday afternoon left a man with a life-threatening stab wound to his neck, according to Metro Police, who are searching for a suspect.

The victim, who was able to run away and seek help from a motorist, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in “extremely” critical condition, police said Thursday.

Officers responded about 3:30 p.m. to McCarran Marketplace Park, 5800 Surrey Street, near Russell Road and Eastern Avenue, police said. He was stabbed near a restroom, where two men and a woman were seen arguing, although the stabbing wasn’t witnessed.

A motorist was on Surrey when the victim ran toward her car. “As soon as the driver stopped, the man, who was covered in blood, walked around the car, opened a back door and sat in the rear seat,” police said.

The driver rendered aid until medics arrived, police said.

Police hadn’t determined a possible motive or obtained a suspect description.
