Firefighters rescue tree trimmer from palm tree

Firefighters rescued a tree trimmer who was stuck in a palm tree today, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue officials.

The incident happened about 12:15 p.m. today in the 6600 block of Kirwan Heights Way, near Rainbow Boulevard and Alexander Road. The trimmer as stuck about 20 feet up the tree and was brought down using a fire ladder, officials said.

Nobody was injured.

Trimming palm trees can be dangerous work, and people have died in Las Vegas cutting palm fronds. The fronds can weigh hundreds of pounds and if they collapse on a tree trimmer, the person can be suffocated.
