Wrong-way driver hits Nevada trooper’s car on I-80 in Reno

RENO — A suspected drunken driver was arrested driving the wrong way on U.S. Interstate 80 in Reno after side-swiping two cars, including a Nevada Highway Patrol cruiser.

The highway patrol says the man apparently drove the wrong way for nearly 10 miles (16 kilometers) early Thursday before he exited I-80 and lost control of his vehicle.

KOLO-TV reports NHP started receiving calls about the westbound vehicle in the eastbound lanes at about 2:45 a.m.

The driver clipped a car near the Keystone exit, then hit a trooper who tried to stop him while monitoring road construction in the area.

He exited at Robb Drive on the west edge of town, lost control and crossed four lanes of traffic before stopping on the sidewalk.

He was arrested but formal charges have not yet been filed. His name has not been released.
