A man arrested in a fatal shooting Thursday outside a motel north of the Strip was identified today by Metro Police as 29-year-old Spencer Trevathan.
Trevathan, an armed security guard, was being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center on a count of murder, jail logs show.
Officers were dispatched about 12:45 p.m. Thursday to the 2200 block of Las Vegas Boulevard South and found the victim in grave condition, police said. He died at University Medical Center.
Trevathan, who lived at the motel, was home on his lunch break when he got into an argument with the victim, who was walking through the parking lot, Metro Lt. Ray Spencer said. There was some shoving, and less than five seconds later, Trevathan pulled a gun and fired a single round, Spencer said.
It was not clear what the men were arguing about or if they knew each other.
The altercation was captured on surveillance video, Spencer said.
Immediately after the shooting, Trevathan holstered his gun and provided medical aid, Spencer said. An employee from a nearby business performed CPR before an ambulance arrived, he said.
An arrest report further detailing the incident was not available this afternoon.
