A tip from Google of a picture depicting sexual abuse on a young boy on its email server led Henderson Police last year to discover about 8,700 images of child porn possessed by a registered sex offender, court documents show.

That suspect, Craig Richard Pozesky, 49, this week was sentenced to 22 years in prison, according to the office of the U.S. attorney for the District of Nevada. He pleaded guilty to the crime in April.

The investigation unfolded in August 2017 when Google contacted police, court records show. A picture showing a man filming himself sexually abusing a child no older than 8 had been placed on an email draft with the intention of being sent to a second party.

Henderson detectives the following month served a search warrant at Pozesky’s house in the 800 block Grape Vine Avenue, near College and Horizon drives, records show.

Initially, Pozesky denied possessing child porn files, but later admitted that he’d obtained some of them from a man he met on a dating website.

“Pozesky (then) admitted to currently having child pornography stored on his laptop computer, and that he trades child pornography with others for other child pornography that he likes,” according to his complaint. Police “observed several images and videos of content featuring prepubescent children under the age of 13.”

Pozesky, who upon being released from prison will face lifetime supervision, is a registered sex offender for crimes in Nevada and Florida. In 1995, he was convicted for lewdness with a child under 14, and in 2005 for attempted lewd and lascivious behavior, police records show.

This case was investigated by Henderson Police and the FBI.
