Water main break at Mandalay Bay floods part of convention center

A water main break at a loading dock of the Mandalay Bay Convention Center flooded an area between the first and second floors of the facility Tuesday afternoon, according to the Clark County Fire Department.

No injuries were reported and about 1,000 visitors were evacuated from the second floor of the convention area to other parts of the property, officials said.

“A water leak at Mandalay Bay has affected a portion of the south convention center,” said MGM Resorts International, which operates the property, in a statement. “Crews are working to clean up the leak as soon as possible. There are no injuries or major disruptions to operations.”

There was no report of structural damage to the building, according to fire officials, who remained on scene to assist hotel personal with cleanup. The water and electrical power in the area was secured, officials said.
