Runners head southbound on the Las Vegas Strip during the 2017 Geico Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017. More than 40,000 runners from 73 countries took part in the race, organizers said.

The 2018 edition of the Las Vegas Rock 'n' Roll Marathon will have a different start line and course.

The race scheduled for Nov. 11 will begin near the MGM Grand casino-resort. Organizers today said the course will have more mileage on the Las Vegas Strip than in previous years.

Runners will head south on the Strip from the start line; turn north at the "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Nevada" sign; pass the Bellagio, Venetian and other casino-resorts; go through downtown Las Vegas; and finish in front of The Mirage casino-resort.

The course last year was adjusted to begin in front of the New York-New York casino-resort after a gunman weeks earlier killed 58 people from his suite at the Mandalay Bay casino-resort, where the race was originally set to begin.
