A 1-year-old boy was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when a car hit him, his mother and two siblings in a crosswalk near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road, according to Metro Police.

The woman suffered substantial but survivable injuries, while the other two children, ages 4 years and 5 months, suffered minor injuries, police said.

Police originally reported the critically injured child was a 2-year-old girl.

The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. near the Boulevard mall as the woman was pushing a stroller with two children walking next to her, police said. They were in the crosswalk when a 2002 Jaguar X-Type hit them, police said.

Two of the children and the woman were taken by ambulance to nearby Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said. A good Samaritan drove the third child to the hospital, police said.

The critically injured boy later was transferred to University Medical Center.

Police said the investigation was ongoing but did not suspect the Las Vegas woman driving the car was impaired.
