Updated Friday, May 25, 2018 | 11:46 a.m.

A person was fatally shot in the central valley Thursday night, according to Metro Police.

The slaying was reported about 8:20 p.m. at 100 Martin Luther King Blvd., near U.S. 95, Lt. Branden Clarkson said.

The victim died at the hospital and the suspect is on the run, Clarkson said about 10:45 p.m.

The victim was in an argument with several people prior to the shooting, police said. At some point, someone fired a handgun multiple times, striking the victim, police said. Detectives have not identified a suspect or motive, police said.

The name of the victim will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

This was the second fatal shooting investigated by Metro Thursday. Investigators allege a teenager shot his parents in their west valley house Thursday morning before his mother, who survived, wounded him.

He was arrested a short time later. Both he and his mother are expected to survive, police said.
