President Barack Obama, accompanied by Vice President Joe Biden, speaks in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington, Wednesday, July 1, 2015.

Former President Barack Obama will hold a rally in Nevada next week to urge residents to vote early and drum up enthusiasm for Democrats running in close races for U.S. Senate, governor and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, meanwhile, will campaign for Democratic candidates in Las Vegas on Saturday as early voting kicks off.

The Nevada State Democratic Party announced Monday that Obama will appear in Las Vegas on Oct. 22 at UNLV.

Obama is expected to speak about the advantages of Nevada's early voting, which starts Oct. 20 and runs through Nov. 2.

Obama won Nevada during his 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns.

The event will be open to the public but members of the public must get tickets. Ticketing information was not yet available Monday.

The Nevada State Democratic Party said today that Biden will appear with Rep. Jacky Rosen, who is running for U.S. Senate, and Clark County Commission Chair Steve Sisolak, who is running for governor.

Other Democratic candidates and Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto are also slated to appear.

The event will be held at the union hall for the powerful Culinary Union 226, which represents about 57,000 workers in the casino industry.

Election canvassing and get-out-the-vote efforts from union members are seen as key for Democrats trying to win close races in swing state Nevada.
