Suspect shot, killed by police after foot pursuit in Henderson

An armed suspect was shot and killed this morning by at least one Henderson Police officer following a short foot pursuit near Auto Show Drive, according to Lt. Kirk Moore.

Officers first responded about 2 a.m. to a Henderson neighborhood where somebody reported a “violent robbery,” said Moore in an online briefing.

Sometime after, near Boulder Highway and Texas Avenue, officers spotted a vehicle suspected in the robbery and attempted a vehicle stop, Moore said.

But the driver did not immediately stop, he added. The motorist led police on about a 3 and 1/2 mile pursuit to Gibson and Trail Canyon roads, exited the vehicle , brandished a gun and then led officers on a “short” foot pursuit before police opened fire, Moore said.

Further information was not immediately available, including how many officers opened fire, if the suspect shot a weapon or where that person died.
